I’m Melanie Mihlstin, MD—a physician, business owner, leader, and mom.
For years, I believed success meant working harder, proving myself, and continuing down the path I had already chosen. But eventually I learned that being successful doesn’t mean you have to stay in a career, workplace, or version of life that no longer fits.
Starting over professionally changed the way I think about ambition, leadership, workplace culture, and work-life balance.
Today, I run my own medical practice and have had the opportunity to build a workplace and career more intentionally—one that reflects the way I want to lead, work, and live.
Why I created this space
I created this site for ambitious women who are asking questions like:
Is this still the right career for me?
Do I need to leave—or do I just need something to change?
How do I protect my life outside of work without giving up my ambition?
What kind of leader do I actually want to become?

I’m a board-certified ophthalmologist and the founder of my own private medical practice. I’m also a wife and mom, and I understand firsthand what it feels like to balance professional ambition with a full life outside of work.
